Swansea Basketball

I take off for spring break tomorrow morning and don’t get back until May 2nd so unfortunately you probably won’t hear from me until then. Therefore, you won’t hear about my trip with my family until then either :/

I am, however, ready to blog about basketball! We had our Varsity match Wednesday. It’s a day where Swansea University plays Cardiff University in every athletic event. They have been doing this competition for 15 years. The day ends with the rugby match, and this year it was in Cardiff. I played at about 1:30 and we won! It was the first time the women’s basketball beat Cardiff in the 15 years! It was so much fun because we had the biggest crowd watching (at the other games there weren’t many spectators). Then, we watched the boy’s basketball game and then got some food and headed to the rugby match.

I was never quite sure when it was a league game or a tournament game because I didn’t know anything about the teams we were playing, but I got it figured out now. We won our League for this season but lost in the semi-finals of the tournament games. I was pretty bummed during the semi-finals game because I twisted my ankle pretty bad and sat out the second half :( It was a lot of fun playing competition basketball again, and I’m glad we did pretty well!

When we played Cardiff 2nd team, we beat them 90-17. They really run the score up because the scoring works towards your place in the league. Here are some pictures that the guy’s basketball coach took of that game!
